  • Charging your phone's battery uses electricity. Unplug your phone once it reaches 100%.
  • Use power strips to easily unplug electronics that are not in use. They also help protect your electronics from lightning surges while in use. Its a Win. Win.
  • Curtains, shutters, and blinds are not only a great addition to the aesthetics of any room or office, but they also reduce the amount of energy needed to cool your business. Opt for light colors to still let in the natural sunlight while minimizing the heat.
  • Upgrading the insulation in your exterior walls and ceiling is an inexpensive way to conserve energy year round.
  • Use caulking and weather stripping around doors and windows to seal cracks and leaks.
  • Sprucing up the office with landscaping? Well positioned trees and bushes can reduce your office's energy needs and save you money, by blocking your office from direct sunlight.

  • Replace your standard light bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFL) or LED bulbs. While the upfront cost is a bit more, they can pay for themselves in as little as 6 months through electricity savings.
  • Select your top 10 lights that you use every day in your office, and replace them with energy efficient bulbs.
  • Turn off the lights during the day when an office is empty.
  • Dimmers and timers can be added to light fixtures to reduce energy costs.

  • Install a programmable thermostat to manage your business's heating and cooling more efficiently.
  • Adjust your thermostat in small degree increments “ your business wont cool down faster by cranking it down.
  • Regularly cleaning your a/c filter will not only improve performance, but also reduce energy consumption and extend the life of your air conditioner.
  • Besides being awkwardly fun to talk in to, fans play an important role in circulating cool air through your business. Be a fan of your fans and they will keep you cool, and help you use less energy!
  • Only heat the rooms you are using by closing vents to rooms or offices that are not in use.
  • By using carpet and rugs on wood floors, you can lower your business's heat by a few degrees and still feel warm.
  • Consider clear window insulator kits in the winter to eliminate drafts. This will make it easier for your heater to keep your office at a comfortable temperature.
  • During winter, open draperies to let in the suns warmth during the day; close draperies to slow the loss of heat through the glass at night.
